Who We Are

We provide the highest level Sport Performance coaching to young athletes of all levels. At WESPA your child will have the best opportunity to reach their sporting and fitness goals.

Founded on the belief that the youth of today are not being given the best opportunity to reach their sporting potential, WESPA was launched in 2015 to solve this problem.

Our coaches are fully qualified to an advanced level with Enhanced DBS’s.

    We coach young athletes in the basics of:

The WESPA HQ, based on the Wirral, provides a flourishing training environment that enthuses hard work, focus and commitment. Your child will feel like an elite athlete and be inspired to make the best of themselves in whatever they are pursuing. Our programmes cater for all aged 7-18. Well done to Anais Bathily who has been selected for the U'16 Merseyside Schools Football 2019/20 Team! Having played for Everton last season and now with TRFC, Anais is certainly on course to achieve top honours!

Caitlin Boothroyd

Caitlin Boothroyd makes the Windsurfing World Championships in Spain in October following her best ever UK event in Bridlington last weekend!!!

Caitlin finished top u17 girl and also 3rd overall with only 2 boys finishing ahead of her. She won the last race of the event outright which was the first time she's beaten all the top boys! Conditions were mixed with light, medium and stronger winds plus a strong tide and she was consistent throughout.

With the European's in Israel in August and now the Worlds following in October, 2019 is proving to be a monumental year for Caitlin!!!

Jack Whitfield just can't stop winning UK & International Squash Championships! Having recently won in Australia, Jack has wasted no time in picking up another piece of silverware winning the 2019 Regional U'17 Squash Championship.

Jack is a WESPA Podium International Athlete and his 2020 strength & conditioning programme is in the final planning stages. The coaching team at WESPA are all very much looking forward to raising the bar yet again!!!

Football Super-Star "Jess Brady" selected for the FA Womans' U14 National Talent Pathway!!! Jess will join the very best players from across the country having now been identified as a future England Lioness National Player!!!

Jess is ambitious, committed and determined to achieve future senior top level international football, and her dedication to her performance training at WESPA HQ is second to none.

It was quite a night for young Josh Craven at the Grosvenor Rowing Club's 150th Anniversary Ball in Chester!

Josh was awarded the "Coxes Cup" by The Duke of Westminster in recognition of his progress last season, and the results he has achieved in regattas and head races. Josh also met Tom James MBE (double Olympic Gold Medalist) and what a photo this is!!!

Fantastic achievement Josh!!!

Sarah Clement-Evans

Sarah Clement-Evans, Gymnastics Junior World Champion and now WESPA's second World Champion since 2015!!!

Sarah Clement-Evans of the New Brighton Gymnastics Club, stole the show at the IAIGC World Gymnastics Championships in Nashville Tennessee, USA.

Day 1 .. competing at Bronze Level qualified in 4 pieces and became All round WORLD CHAMPION at her level!

Tumbling Level 5 WORLD CHAMPION!

Day 2... placed: 2nd Floor, 3rd Vault, 3rd Beam & 7th Bars

Then competed in the very next round in 2 specialist pieces at the level above her normal competing level and qualified in Beam

Day 3... competing at Beam and placed 7th at Diamond Level

Incredible achievements and Sarah's 06:45 training sessions at WESPA HQ demonstrates that hard work pays off!!!

It's never too early to start on your journey to greatness! WESPA Primary offers children aged 7-11 the chance to be coached in an elite gym facility, learning the basics of training whilst becoming stronger, fitter and healthier in the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

I've heard that weight training is bad for children as it stunts their growth. Is this true?

No - there is very little evidence that weight training stunts a child's growth.

If coached correctly and the child is physically mature enough, then weight training can have massive positive effects on their performance. We make sure that every athlete is training in the optimal way for their given level.

I don't want my child getting bulky, slow and less agile - isn't that what gym training does?

No - only certain types of gym training do this. All of the training that we do will make your child stronger, faster and more agile fitting specifically to the sport that they play.
